Salvation Army Says Thank You to Neighbors

New Bern, N.C. (September 30, 2018) On Saturday morning, Captain Curtis Kratz, along with members of the Incident Management Assistance Team (IMAT) in New Bern, North Carolina went door to door to say thank you to the neighbors next to The Salvation Army Social Services and Administration building on Rhem Avenue.

Due to the damage inflicted on the Church Building and Thrift Store, the only location to base operations is the office which happens to be in a neighborhood. With canteen crews, office staff and IMAT staff staying in the building, parking canteens and other vehicles along the street, The Salvation Army has brought in a lot of additional activity to a nice quiet neighborhood street.

Captain Kratz knocked on doors, delivering cookies and hand-written thank you notes to several neighbors letting them know they were appreciated.   Not only was the gesture appreciated, but some of the sentiments also expressed, included:

• “We are so grateful The Salvation Army is here to serve”
• “You are doing a great job”
• “When The Salvation Army arrived with your trucks, it brought an additional sense of security”
• “Thank you for your service”
• “It’s a privilege to have you here”

Although a simple deed, The Salvation Army is appreciative of those who are supportive and patient during times of disaster.  We are grateful to the communities which support us and help us to carry out our mission and ministry.
