Sarasota, FL (October 22, 2024) – The Salvation Army continues to provide hot meals to survivors of Hurricane Milton with two canteen teams serving in Sarasota and Manatee Counties. As power has been restored to most of Sarasota, The Salvation Army has scaled down emergency feeding operations in certain locations. The Incident Management Team is working with the Sarasota Salvation Army Corps to transfer services back to the local command.
To date, the Sarasota operation has served over 47,000 meals and 14,000 snacks to Hurricane Milton survivors. To keep up to date with service locations near you, visit The Salvation Army Hurricane Milton Service Locations.
In addition to food service, The Salvation Army is also providing emotional and spiritual care (ESC) to survivors. ESC specialists visit feeding sites throughout the day to offer a comforting shoulder, listening ear, and word of prayer to those in need.
