Sarasota, FL (October 16, 2024) – The Sarasota operation currently has ten canteen teams serving in Sarasota and Manatee Counties. The local Salvation Army Corps in Charlotte County has assumed feeding operations for their jurisdiction. Yesterday, in addition to community locations and roving units, crews provided food at four comfort stations, one FEMA Help Center, and one POD with the National Guard.
Operations Chief Dante Salgado stated, “We have adapted quickly to requests from local EOCs and our crews are working diligently to not only provide hot meals to survivors but to also provide emotional and spiritual care.”
To date, the Sarasota operation has served nearly 20,000 meals and 6,000 snacks to Hurricane Milton survivors. Food service continues to increase as the Sarasota operation evaluates how best to meet community needs.
