Sarasota, FL (October 15, 2024) - The Salvation Army continues to serve hot meals in Sarasota, Florida and the surrounding communities. The operation currently has ten canteen teams serving in three counites. Yesterday, crews provided food at a comfort station in Manatee County and have been requested to serve at three more today. Canteens are also joining the National Guard at two distribution sites. To date, the Sarasota operation has provided over 15,000 meals and 4,200 snacks to Hurricane Milton survivors. Food service continues to increase as the Sarasota operation evaluates how best to meet community needs. In addition to food service, The Salvation Army is providing Emotional and Spiritual Care to disaster survivors in partnership with Southern Babtist Chaplin teams. The Salvation Army’s response to Hurricane Milton is an international effort, with crews traveling from all over the U.S. and Cannada to assist with the operation.
