The Salvation Army in Sarasota, Florida Service Update

Sarasota, FL (October 13, 2024) - The Salvation Army placed an Incident Management Team in Sarasota, Florida on Friday night to manage local relief efforts for survivors of Hurricane Milton. Canteens began serving hot meals on Saturday. The operation currently has ten canteen teams serving in three counites with plans to add more units in the near future.

 

In Hardee County, a Salvation Army canteen participated in a multi-agency emergency supply distribution with the Florida National Guard and Walmart. The organizations provided water, cleaning supplies, and hot melas to survivors. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis stopped by the operation to show his solidarity with the community and express his appreciation for the relief workers.

 

To date, the Sarasota operation has provided nearly 2,900 meals and over 1,094 snacks to Hurricane Milton survivors. The Salvation Army’s response to Hurricane Milton is an international effort, with crews traveling from all over the U.S. and Cannada to assist with the operation.

  • Food service unit will be in the area of 6806 5th Ave NW, Bradenton in the afternoon while supplies last.
  • Food service unit will be out roving on Anna Maria Island in the afternoon while supplies last.

Sarasota County

  • Lunch service at 3190 Bahia Vista St, Sarasota beginning at noon, while supplies last.
  • Lunch service at Sarasota Bay Mobile Home Park, 42 W Oak St, Osprey beginning at noon, while supplies last.
  • Lunch service at 150 Satulah Cir, Venice beginning at noon, while supplies last.
  • Lunch service at Pioneer Park 1266 12th St, Sarasota beginning at noon, while supplies last.
  • Lunch service at 2800 Newton Blvd, Sarasota beginning at noon, while supplies last.
  • Lunch Service at 200 W Venice Ave, Venice beginning at noon, while supplies last.
