Tropical Storm Helene has Florida's Mobile Feeding Units Ready

Tampa, Florida (September 24, 2024) - Tropical Storm Helene is forecast to become Major Hurricane Helene before making landfall along the west coast of Florida on Thursday. As part of its preparation for service delivery, Emergency Disaster Services Department of The Salvation Army Florida Division is monitoring this storm so that it may provide first responders and survivors with hydration, snacks, and meals, as well as emotional and spiritual support.

Tomorrow morning, Wednesday, September 24th all mobile feeding units in the Division are to be on standby, according to Emergency Disaster Services Director Steven Hartsook. While preparing for response, 8 of the Division's 30 mobile feeding units and an Incident Management Team are confirmed for deployment as soon as safely possible post storm landfall.
