Hot Springs Arkansas Volunteer Has Passion to Serve Others

North Little Rock, AR (April 9, 2023) The Salvation Army is proud to have George, a volunteer from 1st Church of the Nazarene in Hot Springs, Arkansas, join their disaster response team to serve the communities in Central Arkansas affected by the tornadoes. George’s passion for serving those who are hurting comes from his own personal experience of being homeless for 19 years and finding hope through his faith.

“It’s Christ who leads me to give. I pray every day to die of self and allow the Holy Spirit to work in me,” says George. He is dedicated to serving others and is grateful for the opportunity to give back through his volunteer work with The Salvation Army.

When asked about volunteering on Easter Sunday, George replied, “It’s because I’m doing the Lord’s work.”  He sees his service as an opportunity to minister to many people a day, praying and giving the gift of hope.

George finds it a blessing to work and serve side-by-side with The Salvation Army. This is his first time to be deployed on disaster and work with people who are impacted by a devastatng event, such as the recent tornadoes. He has found it very meaningful. Through his volunteer work, he has the opportunity to give back to those in need and provide them with the hope that he has found through his own experiences.

The Salvation Army is grateful for volunteers like George, who embody their mission to serve others with compassion and care.  Together, they make a difference in the lives of those impacted by the disaster.
