The Salvation Army of Miami Continues Meeting Needs in Surfside, FL

Surfside, FL (July 2, 2021) - Since June 24, when news broke of the tragic building collapse in Surfside, FL., The Salvation Army of Miami Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) team has been on-site and responding to the rapidly changing needs of the Surfside community and requests from emergency management teams on the ground.

Currently, The Salvation Army EDS team is stationed at the Family Assistance Center and is working in tandem with over twenty other community organizations to directly support the survivors of the collapse and the families of the missing. The Salvation Army has also deployed its mobile laundry unit, with four washers and four dryers, which will be staffed 24/7 by volunteers from the Florida Baptist Disaster Relief to provide laundry services to the first responders.

The work The Salvation Army has done and will continue to do responding to this tragedy has been generously supported by local Miami-Dade County foundations. The Salvation Army of Miami would like to thank the Batchelor Foundation and the Support Surfside fund for their generosity.

As one of the nation's largest disaster relief organizations, it is the mission of The Salvation Army to meet human needs without discrimination. The Salvation Army of Miami Emergency Disaster Services team will continue to be on standby to deploy additional personnel and resources as needed to support the long-term recovery operations in Surfside, FL.
