Surfside, FL (June 26, 2021)- The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services (“EDS”) staff were on site for a third day responding to the residential building collapse in Surfside, FL.
On Saturday, the Miami-Dade EDS deployed their rapid response vehicle to continue the roaming support of first responders in the impacted area. Lt. Kelvin Garcia from The Salvation Army of Miami, Hialeah Corps was also onsite at the Family Reunification Center to provide emotional and spiritual care. The EDS team also was onsite at the memorial set up 88th and Harding to offer water to those awaiting more information.
This is an active and ongoing situation. The Salvation Army of Miami EDS staff are prepared to continue the distribution of food & beverages and provide onsite emotional and spiritual care as requested to first responders, media covering the story, and those holding onto hope and waiting for information.
The Salvation Army of Miami EDS will continue to be on standby to deploy additional personnel and resources as requested until the situation has been resolved.
