Surfside, FL (June 25, 2021)-The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services (“EDS”) staff were onsite for a second day responding to the residential building collapse in Surfside, FL.
Miami-Dade EDS deployed their rapid response vehicle at 8:00 AM and provided continual roaming support with hot coffee, breakfast, and water to all stationed first-responders in the impacted area. Captain Pryne Pierre from The Salvation Army of Miami, Edison Corps was also onsite at the Family Reunification Center to provide emotional and spiritual care.
This is an active and ongoing situation, and the response to this emergency is expected to span multiple days. The Salvation Army of Miami EDS staff are prepared to continue the distribution of food & beverages to first responders stationed through the impacted area as well as onsite emotional and spiritual care as needed. The Salvation Army of Miami EDS will continue to be on standby to deploy additional personnel and resources as requested until the situation has been resolved.
