The Salvation Army Responds to Flooding in Northwest Arkansas

May 3, 2021 (FAYETTEVILLE, AR) –  The Salvation Army’s Arkansas-Oklahoma Division is responding to communities affected by last week’s heavy rainfall which caused flooding across portions of Northwest Arkansas.  The torrential rains were especially devastating to a small neighborhood located in Rogers.

The Salvation Army of Northwest Arkansas Area Command responded to the call to help those affected with a mobile feeding unit. Mobile feeding units have the capacity to serve up to 2,500 meals a day.   In Rogers, The Salvation Army provided over 200 meals, 100 drinks, and emotional and spiritual care.  Additionally, 48 clean-up kits were distributed to families whose homes were damaged.

Captain Andrew Thorson, Rogers Salvation Army Corps Officer, who was out serving, states “The families in this neighborhood have all been hit hard with an unexpected life event that has literally washed away most of their belongings. They are all working together along with several churches in the area to piece everything back together. It’s going to take a bit of time and a lot of work, but God will provide.”  The Salvation Army is pleased to be working with local churches and other local partner agencies and is assessing further needs to determine what other resources may be needed.

The best way to help those impacted by the storms is to make a monetary donation online at www.HelpSalvationArmy.org or by calling 1-800-SAL-ARMY.
