The Salvation Army Prepares as Hurricane Isaias Nears Florida's East Coast

LUTZ, FLORIDA (July 31, 2020) – As current models continue to show a potential landfall of Hurricane Isaias as a Category 1 storm on Florida's southeast coast, The Salvation Army has placed all nearby commands on standby for local response as needed. These resources include personnel as well as 12 mobile feeding units.

The remaining commands across the state continue to monitor and prepare as recommended by local officials, with all Salvation Army units connecting with local emergency management to ensure service delivery is available as requests are received.

"Experience has taught us that we need to prepare for the worst but hope for the best. As such, we are preparing to respond to our community's needs at a moments' notice," says Captain Jeff Marquis, Corps Officer serving the Treasure Coast of Florida.

"Our mobile feeding unit is prepped and stocked, our volunteers are making preparations to be available to serve, and our staff is coordinating with local officials to ensure sufficient coverage. While our prayers are for minimal impact, we stand ready to serve should the need arise."
