San Diego, CA (December 10, 2017) – In response to the Lilac Fire, The Salvation Army will participate at a Local Assistance Center (LAC) at the Vista Library on Monday, December 11 to serve those affected by the fire.
The Lilac Fire in North County has held a steady 4,100 acres burned and is now 60% contained. The fire destroyed over 182 structures, and caused hundreds of people to evacuate.
The LAC is located at the Vista Library at 700 Eucalyptus Avenue in Vista, California 92084 and will open at 9:00am on Monday. Those affected by the fires and in need of services can to come to the LAC and meet a network of organizations, which offer a variety of services.
As a participant in the LAC, The Salvation Army will provide temporary housing assistance, thrift store vouchers, emergency food assistance, Walmart gift cards and Home Depot gift cards.
The Salvation Army’s canteen will arrive around 8:00am on Monday and serve coffee, water and snacks to those waiting for the LAC. The canteen will be present all day long.
On Thursday, December 7, and Friday, December 8, The Salvation Army provided water, food, ice, shovels, rakes, tubs, eye hooks and phone chargers to volunteers and evacuees at the Del Mar Fairgrounds.
