Cedar Falls, Iowa (September 25, 2016)—The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services has been working across eastern Iowa to provide feeding and hydration support in response to flooding in several areas including Waterloo Cedar Falls, Cedar Rapids and several other communities. Heavy, sustained rainfall from storms the past few days have caused the Cedar River to rise, causing floods throughout the area.

“The Salvation Army is here to support the needs of those impacted by the flooding in our communities,” said Major Harold Poff, Corps Officer for The Salvation Army in Waterloo/Cedar Falls. “We are here to help and will do everything we can to make sure we meet the needs of those who need us the most.”

Feeding and hydration support began on Friday, September 23 and as of Saturday afternoon, The Salvation Army had provided 507 snacks, 468 meals and 473 drinks to flood survivors and first responders throughout the affected areas. Service will continue as long as The Salvation Army is needed.

The best way to help disaster survivors is through financial contributions, which allow disaster responders to immediately meet the needs of the community.
