UPS and Salvation Army Partner To Help Florida Residents Begin Recovery Efforts

Tallahassee, FL (September 4, 2016) - To support those effected by Hurricane Hermine and the response efforts of The Salvation Army, UPS stepped up to the plate in a big way.
Knowing that many throughout the state will be dealing with the lasting effects of the storm, UPS loaded more than 600 clean-up kits from The Salvation Army’s disaster warehouse in Texas Saturday morning and delivered them late Saturday evening to the Army's disaster command center in Tallahassee. An additional 1,000 clean-up kits are expected to arrive Sunday evening via UPS from The Salvation Army’s disaster warehouse in Georgia.
Clean-up kits include mops, brooms, cleaning solutions, rags, etc. "These are some basic essentials to help individuals and families begin putting their homes and their lives back together," said Major Jim Spencer, Salvation Army Operations Director for Hurricane Hermine in Tallahassee.
Since Hurricane Hermine made landfall, The Salvation Army has been serving Florida communities from Pasco County to Gadsden County. As of September 3, The Salvation Army has served a total of 3,456 meals, 3,184 drinks, 1,662 snacks, and offered emotional and spiritual care to 295 individuals.
