Who's Ready?

In preparation for the upcoming Disaster Training Summit in Orlando, Florida from May 22-25, 2017, The Salvation Army Texas Division Emergency Disaster Services will be conducting a Statewide Preparedness Training Event hosted at five different locations throughout Texas, 7/15/16 from 5:30PM-9PM and 7/16/16 from 8:30AM-5:30PM. This training is free and lunch and snacks will be provided. If you have any questions about any of the training being offered, please call me at (682) 300-2404.

Courses Offered:

Introduction to The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services

  • Introduction to The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services explains what The Salvation Army does to assist first responders and survivors before, during, and following a disaster. This course is required to receive a disaster badge.  Note this course is also offered online. If you are interested in taking this course online, please reply to this email and I will register you for the course.

Ministry of Presence

  • Ministry of Presence will explore appropriate emotional and spiritual care from its most basic level of "just being there" to the deeper aspects of pastoral counseling and referral. This is a highly interactive course that will both challenge and help participants to care for both others and themselves during a disaster deployment.

ServSafe Food Handler

  • ServSafe Food Handler explains how food can become unsafe through time-temperature abuse, cross-contamination, and improper cleaning and sanitizing, and the importance good personal hygiene plays in limiting the spread of bacteria and other dangerous pathogens.

Safe from Harm for Emergency Disaster Services Level 1

  • Safe from Harm for Emergency Disaster Services explains the roles and responsibilities of Salvation Army disaster personnel in keeping vulnerable populations safe from harm. This course is required to receive a disaster badge.
