AUSTIN, TX (May 24, 2015) – The Salvation Army mobile feeding unit (canteen) from Williamson County (Austin Area Command) is providing food and hydration for more than 300 survivors seeking shelter at the San Marcos recreation center. The Salvation Army is coordinating with Local and State Emergency Management to serve first responders and survivors affected by the devastating flooding along the Blanco River.
Lt. Colonel Henry Gonzalez, Area Commander for The Salvation Army Austin states, “The flood devastation has impacted thousands of Central Texans. The Salvation Army is honored to serve and to provide sustenance to survivors and first responders involved in caring for survivors and coordinating efforts. We will stay as long as we are needed to provide not only food and drink but also emotional and spiritual support."
All Salvation Army units across the State of Texas continue to be on standby as flooding and storm damage continues throughout the region.
