The Salvation Army of McAlester Assists County Emergency Operations Center

May 11, 2015 - Oklahoma City, OK   –   The Salvation Army of McAlester, Oklahoma responded earlier today to support local and county officials in Latimer County following tornadic activity and flooding.   The request came from the County after a series of thunderstorms, high winds and tornado activity affected Southeast Oklahoma on Sunday evening.

A five man crew served lunch, snacks and hydration at the county’s emergency operations center.   Many officials from various entities were assessing damage and potential flooding from overflowing lakes and dams

Captain Rob Daniels reported he is also in close contact with the Pittsburg County Emergency Manager as well in the event additional support is needed.   Daniels reports The Salvation Army’s canteen (mobile feeding unit) stands ready to redeploy should the need arise later today due to flooding concerns.
