Jackson Mississippi Responds to Call for Assistance

Jackson MS (September 19, 2014) - The Salvation Army of Jackson Mississippi responded to a call for emergency assistance from the city of Jackson Thursday night.  The Jackson Salvation Army was able to supply the city with two pallets of bottled water that is being distributed to a neighborhood in Jackson without drinkable water.

A water main break on Jackson’s northeast side caused the city to shut down water to homes and apartment complexes in the area.  With no idea of when the water would be turned back on, the emergency manager from the city of Jackson contacted the Salvation Army for help. The local Salvation Army representative, Capt. Ken Chapman advised, "The Salvation Army and the Capital city have a special relationship; we are glad we can help."  Jackson's emergency manager advised that he would be monitoring the situation, and be back in touch with The Salvation Army if additional resources were needed.  Chapman added "If additional help is required, The Salvation Army would be there for the people of Jackson!"
