AUSTIN, TX (November 1, 2013) – The Salvation Army is on the ground in Austin and surrounding areas with a disaster canteen (mobile kitchen) and personnel coordinating with Local Emergency Management to serve first responders and those affected by the disastrous flooding in Central Texas.
The Salvation Army Austin Area Command has deployed the Williamson County canteen, which is operated year round by a committed group of volunteers, to the Onion Creek area. Another canteen and crew from New Braunfels is providing support in San Marcos with cleanup kits.
Meals and hydration are being provided for first responders and those affected by the flooding. The Salvation Army will provide these services for as long as we are needed.
The Salvation Army uses 100% of all disaster donations in support of disaster relief operations. Financial donations can be made in the following ways to support The Salvation Army local response to the Central Texas flooding:
