Vauxhall Helicopter Crash: The Salvation Army responds to incident in Central London

London, England (January 16, 2013) - The Salvation Army has deployed two mobile canteens to provide support at the scene of an incident involving a helicopter and a crane at Vauxhall in Central London.

The vehicles, despatched from London Central Emergency Response Team and London South East Division, were on hand at two sites in Vauxhall serving hot drinks, sandwiches and snacks to emergency services workers.

One was situated at Vauxhall Station surrounded by TV crews, emergency services and members of the public, while the other vehicle was situated on the opposite side of the crash site at Sainsbury’s in Wandsworth Road.

Six fire engines, four fire rescue units, a number of other specialist vehicles, 88 firefighters and officers from the London Fire Brigade, Met Police and London Ambulance Service are currently attending the scene of the crash near Wandsworth Road in South Lambeth.

The mobile units provided both refreshments and pastoral support to those involved in the rescue and response following the incident which took place at around 8am on Wednesday.

Vauxhall station, which was closed shortly after the incident, has now re-opened.
