West Liberty, KY (March 6, 2012) – It is often those who work behind the scenes that get little recognition but do tremendous acts of service. The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services and Southern Baptist Disaster Relief have been partners in serving others for many years. Although many who receive a hot meal from The Salvation Army in times of disaster may not realize it, many of the meals are prepared by the volunteers of Southern Baptist Disaster Relief.
This partnership works well for many reasons, but the main reason is our common desire to serve God and others...not worried about who gets credit. The partnership and the Baptist Disaster Relief team's spirit echoes the Bible verse is found at the top of their webpage, "God is our refuge and strength, a helper who is always found in times of trouble," Psalm 46:1 (HCSB).
Working together, we have been able to not only share a hot meal with those affected by the tornado, but we have also been able to provide spiritual and emotional support. We are thankful for the invaluable service of the Southern Baptist Disaster Relief. We give thanks to God for partnering The Salvation Army and the Southern Baptist Disaster Relief in a way that allows each to fully utilize their respective strengths.
