The Salvation Army Responding To New Iberia Chemical Fire

Lafayette, LA (June 14,2011) - The Salvation Army is on the ground of a major chemical fire in New Iberia, Louisiana offering physical, emotional, and spiritual care to residents and first responders.

Early Tuesday evening the Multi-Chem plant in New Iberia, La reported a massive explosion that could be seen for several miles.

Captain August Pillsbury of The Salvation Army in Lafayette immediately deployed a mobile feeding unit and two additional vehicles to provide feeding support at the command post and surrounding neighborhoods without power due to the fire.
