The Salvation Army Of Georgia Moves From Primary Response To Recovery For Tornado Survivors

Norcross, GA - May 10, 2011 – As immediate needs for food, beverages and personal items have been met, The Salvation Army moves from response to recovery in Georgia by helping tornado survivors of April 28 begin the long road of recovery. Throughout the weekend of May 6 – 8, The Salvation Army in Bartow, Floyd, Lamar, Meriwether, Spalding and Troup Counties served:

· 778 people received meals

· 1,850 persons were cold beverages

· 1,084 snacks were given

In coordinating long-term recovery, the Salvation Army through FEMA and GEMA has established Disaster Recovery Centers (DRC). Georgians who live in the following counties and who qualify for tornado recovery assistance may register at these locations:
