Chattanooga, TN – With the search and rescue complete and power lines and debris cleared off of roads, The Salvation Army is moving into additional areas it was not able to get into in previous days. More and more folks are seeking prayer and physical support from The Salvation Army. Volunteer Karen Diliberto says, “When someone has lost everything, what they need most is hope. What better hope to provide than the healing power of prayer.” The Salvation Army is providing this hope and healing in eight different counties throughout the Kentucky/Tennessee division.
Washington, VA - The Salvation Army deployed its Johnson City mobile kitchen to the EOC and centralized distribution site. The Owensboro, KY mobile kitchen unit as arrived today to serve the hard hit area of Glade Springs community after tornadoes tore through it on April 27, 2011. The disaster team will provide physical, emotional, and spiritual care to victims of this horrific disaster.
Dade County, GA - over 800 meals have been served in to the residents of Trenton, GA. The Salvation Army is moving into the social service stages in this community.
Walker County, GA - After 626 meals being served, The Salvation Army is moving from response into recovery for the residents of Flintstone, GA. The Salvation Army has moved its canteen into the counties of Catoosa, GA and Hamilton, TN.
Catoosa County, GA – The Salvation Army began serving in Ringgold, GA hours after the F-4 touched down on April 27, 2011. Currently we have 2 mobile kitchen units servicing the Ringgold community that have come from Dalton, GA and Winchester, TN.
Hamilton County, TN – The Salvation Army is serving in Apison, Tiftonia, Brainerd, and East Ridge areas of the county. There are 2 mobile kitchen units that have come Knoxville and Murfreesboro TN are roaming these areas providing food and emotional and spiritual care.
Bradley County, TN – The Salvation Army has 3 mobile kitchens from Chattanooga and Nashville TN, and Danville KY in the Cleveland, TN area. Service began between storms on April 27, 2011. They have served over 10,000 meals and prayed with over 500 individuals personally. The Salvation Army Corps in Cleveland is serving as the joint operations center for all agencies involved in these disaster relief efforts. They are utilizing a large church in the area as a central distribution point of food, water, and immediate needs.
Lake County, TN – The Salvation Army service unit has been serving since the storms hit on April 27. They have been averaging 300 meals a day. Service is being provided by Service Unit volunteers.
Henderson, KY – The Salvation Army has 4 separate locations where physical, emotional and spiritual services are being provided. The locations are in Henderson, Union County, and along Hwy 60 in the communities of Spottsville, Reed, Beals and Caseyville. They have served well over a thousand meals.
