Pocahontas, AR – The Service Unit of The Salvation Army in Randolph County continues to serve workers, the National Guard, and others affected by the flooding of the Black River in Pocahontas.
The Black River continues to be above flood level and in the last 48 hours, seven inches of rain has fallen. Captain Bobby Carr, a volunteer from Fayetteville, AR and another employee have been serving off of the mobile feeding unit since Sunday morning. This past weekend three meals a day were served amounting t0 1,303 meals served. To date, since last Thursday when meal service began, 2,801 meals have been served. 402 volunteer hours have been provided by local community members, as well as service by employees and Officers of The Salvation Army.
The Salvation Army would like to thank the National Guard who have provided assistance to ensure that critical supplies are able to be resourced even though transportation is very difficult due to flooded roads.
