Denver, CO (September 13, 2013 5:30PM) – A Salvation Army volunteer providing disaster relief support to an Estes Park shelter recently reached out to update disaster personnel on the state of volunteers and evacuees who have been cut off from communication since early this morning.
Salvation Army volunteer Wayne Anderson has been stationed at Mountain View Bible Fellowship in Estes Park unable to communicate the shelter’s needs until 4:29PM (MST) when an email arrived that sent a wave of relief over Salvation Army personnel trying to reach the area.
Anderson confirmed that evacuees at the isolated shelter were “doing fine” and that volunteers “have been able to meet the needs of most.”
Since activation, The Salvation Army has provided 3,750 meals, drinks and nutritional items to first responders, rescue workers and evacuees of the Front Range flooding.
Currently, The Salvation Army is providing disaster relief in the following locations:
Boulder County
• A Salvation Army emergency disaster services team is providing meals and hydration to first responders and rescue workers at the Boulder County Incident Command Post located at Linden Avenue and Broadway.
• The Salvation Army continues to stage emergency disaster supplies at the Boulder County Municipal Airport to be distributed across areas affected by the current Colorado flooding.
Ft. Collins, CO
• Earlier today, Salvation Army personnel deployed to provide assistance to evacuees at the Timberline Church located at 2908 S Timberline Rd., Ft. Collins, CO 80525. This evening, personnel served 200 for dinner at this location.
Jefferson County
