The Salvation Army Supports Fire Fighters at Tire Factory Fire in Bradenton, FL

Bradenton, FL (May 18, 2017) - Salvation Army volunteers and staff are responding to a call at Dan Callaghan Enterprises, a tire factory in east Bradenton, to  aid in hydration at the five-alarm fire.

The EDS team will provide food and water to 125 first responders who have been battling the blaze since early this afternoon.

The fire started around lunchtime on Thursday, May 18. Salvation Army volunteers and staff are prepared to stay for several hours and plan to serve emergency personnel dinner.

The cause of the fire is unknown.

More than 30 Florida counties are under a burn ban as an extreme drought has plagued the state for months. The Salvation Army is working with Florida emergency personnel throughout the state to keep first responders hydrated and fed.

For more than 100 years, The Salvation Army disaster services ministry has supported first responders and survivors by providing food, water and emotional support.

The best way to help survivors and relief workers is to make a financial contribution. Monetary donations allow disaster responders to immediately meet the specific needs of disaster survivors.
