The Salvation Army - A Welcome Sight to Cold Workers

March 9, 2015 (Pine Bluff, AR) The Pine Bluff Salvation Army disaster team deployed last week on a good will mission to those working in extremely cold, icy and snowy conditions.  Arkansas felt Winter Storm Thor throughout the state.  While City and County government offices, schools and other businesses were closed, there were many trying to restore normalcy to the community.

Hot Chocolate, coffee and donuts were served to workers restoring power to households affected by outages caused by freezing rain and wind.   Whether it was the police officers, Army National Guard, or tree service workers, it was met with grateful smiles.  Even the USPS postal workers out delivery mail were able to enjoy a cup of hot chocolate and donut while making their rounds.

This small gesture was made to say thank you to those who have volunteered with The Salvation Army.  One of the postal workers served grew up playing basketball in the Salvation Army’s gymnasium.  Some of the police officers served participated in the Grand Re-Opening of the Gymnasium, as well as participating in Angel Tree distribution.

The disaster team and The Salvation Army of Pine Bluff are very grateful to those who are consistently working to improve the community.
