NASHVILLE, TN, April 30, 2014 — With specific needs assessed, The Salvation Army Kentucky/Tennessee Division deployed a mobile feeding unit to Lincoln County, TN on Wednesday morning. As of 5pm, The Salvation Army EDS team from Nashville has provided, 318 meals, 211 drinks, 207 snacks, and 3 people with emotional and spiritual support. EDS staff will be back in Lincoln County on Thrusday to reassess the needs of the community.

The EDS team canvassed areas hit the hardest. One of those areas was the South Lincoln Estates subdivision located in the city of Fayetteville. While, most homes recieved moderate to severe damage, several were completely destroyed by Monday night's tornado.

As residents begin to pickup the pieces, many are still in shock. "I don't think the reality of what happened has set in for most of the people here." said Lieutenant Chris Reckline, officer of The Salvation Army's Citadel Corps in Madison, TN. In addition to providing food and water to those in need Lt. Reckline also prayed with those in need. As an officer in The Salvation Army, ordination as a minister is just one facet of their  training that is called on in disasters. "Often times, that prayer or those kind words mean more to people than you realize. It's what makes The Salvation Army's disaster relief efforts unique."

Monetary donations are the most critical need as supplies and personnel are mobilized.
