Oklahoma City, OK – Even as devastating tornadoes and storms head East in Oklahoma, The Salvation Army is on the move. The Salvation Army is working with Emergency Management and has been asked to respond to various locations.
Oklahoma
The Central Oklahoma Area Command is deploying the mobile feeding unit to support the shelter in El Reno. El Reno is located in Canadian County where damage and fatalities are reported. The Salvation Army shelter is located at 201 S. Bickford.
The Enid mobile feeding unit is being deployed to Woodward County in western Oklahoma. They will be responding to Cedar Ridge Mobile Home Park where approximately 60 manufactured homes were destroyed. Search and rescue efforts are underway.
The Lawton mobile feeding unit is being dispatched to Chickasha where numerous structures were damaged or destroyed by a tornado. Also, an apartment complex was heavily damaged. Lt. James Biddix, Chickasha, and Captain Ernie Hull, Lawton, will be providing food and hydration to emergency responders and storm victims.
The Ponca City mobile feeding unit, currently in Stillwater with Sgt. Rob Daniels, is deploying to the intersection of 19th and Western in Stillwater to support first responders and damage assessment teams.
Missouri
Additionally, the Tulsa mobile feeding unit with Captain Warren Jones, Sapulpa, and a volunteer continue to be on the scene in Joplin, Missouri where a devastating tornado hit on Sunday evening. The unit is located near the hospital where the Search and Rescue Mobile Command is located and they are supporting numerous responders. The unit is providing 24-hour around the clock feeding and hydration.
Tornado watches and warnings continue to be prevalent in Oklahoma moving in an eastward direction. All Arkansas-Oklahoma division units are on stand-by. Multiple locations in Oklahoma have sustained damage due to tornadoes although reports are still coming in to the state EOC.
The Salvation Army is prepared to provide care and compassion, food and hydration to those affected by storms. Please pray for all of those affected by the storms in Central United States in the last few days.
