Dallas, TX (April 5, 2012) - The Salvation Army continues to respond across the DFW Metroplex area after 11 tornadoes tore through the region, Tuesday afternoon.

Three mobile feeding units actively served in Arlington, Lancaster, and Forney, during the first 24 hours, with three additional units on standby. By the end of Wednesday all six units were placed on standby and the shelter that had been made available at the Arlington Corps, was deactivated. It is estimated that 650 homes recieved some level of damage from the powerful storms.

Additional units will be available to support similar service in Lancaster and Arlington.

The long-term needs of those most affected will now become the major focus of The Salvation Army's ongoing response.
