The Salvation Army Responds to Explosion in Corpus Christi
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - Major Daniel New, administrator of The Salvation Army in Corpus Christi, Texas, reports that Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) personnel and a mobile feeding unit (canteen) have been dispatched to serve first responders and victims of an explosion that occurred around 11 a.m. yesterday in the North Beach area of Corpus Christi.
Major New was contacted at 4 p.m. and immediately mobilized trained Salvation Army EDS staff and volunteers. The Salvation Army canteen was on site by 5 p.m. and is equipped to serve a hot dinner as well as sandwiches, water, and coffee to victims and emergency workers.
“We are stocked to serve this evening, and through the night, and plan to serve breakfast tomorrow,” Major News says. “We’ll asses the situation and bring in additional personnel and services as necessary. We will remain on-site as long as needed.”
