The Walmart Foundation Donates $500,000 to The Salvation Army for Hurricane Laura Response

Atlanta, Georgia (September 2, 2020) – The Walmart Foundation has announced an incredibly generous donation to The Salvation Army’s relief efforts for communities impacted by Hurricane Laura. The Salvation Army’s Emergency Disaster Services teams have served over 166,000 meals, snacks, and drinks since landfall.  This gift will help to continue those efforts as we continue to serve.

“Our thoughts are with all those impacted by Hurricane Laura,” said Qadira Harris, senior manager of community disaster response and preparedness for Walmart. “The work the Salvation Army is doing to help the people of Louisiana and Texas recover is invaluable, and we’re proud to support their efforts.”

“The Salvation Army will continue to meet needs wherever they exist,” says Major Terry Israel, Community Relations & Development Secretary for The Salvation Army’s Southern Territory. “We could not do what we do without the generosity of partners, like the Walmart Foundation, who go above and beyond to support The Salvation Army.”

The best way to support the disaster work of The Salvation Army is by making a financial donation at www.helpsalvationarmy.org or by calling 1-800-SAL-ARMY.
