Things to Consider
Before donating goods to disaster relief, The Salvation Army encourages you to consider the following:
- Financial donations are always the BEST way to help during a disaster. A cash donation allows charitable relief agencies like The Salvation Army to quickly buy whatever disaster survivors need most!
- Essential Products. Confirm what products are needed BEFORE doing any collections.
- Shipping Arrangements. The Salvation Army does not have the resources to arrange transportation for donations. Any good that are accepted must be sorted and appropriately packed, palletized, and shrink-wrapped before being shipped to The Salvation Army.
- Used clothing, furniture, and motor vehicles are not needed during disaster. The Salvation Army does count on these donations to fund its local programs through sales at their Thrift Stores. To donate used items to your local Salvation Army, call 1-800-SA-TRUCK (728-7825) to arrange a pick-up or to find the nearest drop-off location.
