Douglas, GA (October 7, 2024) – The Salvation Army continues to serve survivors in Douglas, GA and the surrounding communities. Currently, canteens are providing food service at ten locations in eight counties. Service requests continue to come in daily and The Salvation Army is working to adapt its operation to meet the needs of survivors. Today, the canteen stationed in Pierce County (see below) will be passing out 200 cleanup kits in addition to meals. To date, the Douglas operation has provided over 60,000 meals and 36,000 snacks to survivors of Hurricane Helene. The Salvation Army is committed to serving Douglas and the surrounding communities. In addition to food and hydration services, teams Emotional and Spiritual Care personnel are traveling from site to site, offering a listening ear or comforting shoulder for those in need.
