Hurricane Beryl was the earliest forming category 5 storm on record. After weakening over the Yucatán Peninsula, it made landfall in Texas as a Category 1 hurricane on July 8, 2024.
Beryl caused widespread flooding and left more than 2 million customers without power during the brutal Texas summer heat. Salvation Army teams were quick on the ground, providing meals and much needed cold drinks and ice.
