Amidst the Rain Service Continues for Tornado Impacted Areas of Kentucky
Mayfield, KY (December 18, 2021)--Rain has poured down over Western Kentucky for the past three days, but Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Service teams have been serving meals and providing emotional and spiritual support to survivors, crews of cleanup volunteers, and first responders in the aftermath of the December 10 tornadoes that swept through the area.
“Through the rain, the clean-up hasn’t stopped. The need for hot meals has not stopped. The need for emotional and spiritual care has not stopped - people are hurting. As long as we are needed we are going to be here to serve,” said Bo Sells, Emergency Disaster Services Director for The Salvation Army of Kentucky and Tennessee.
According to weather reports, the rainy weather will stop later today and cold weather will move into the region. The Salvation Army’s Emergency Disaster Services will be out there in impacted communities, providing support and love to people in the name of Jesus Christ.
To date, The Salvation Army has served more than 15,500 meals and more than 1,350 people have received emotional and spiritual care.
