The Salvation Army of Greater Chattanooga plans on serving over 2500 neighbors on Day 3 of Tornado Relief

The Salvation Army of Greater Chattanooga plans on serving over 2500 neighbors on Day 3 of Tornado Relief to Northwest Georgia and Southeast Tennessee

 

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – April 15, 2020 – The Salvation Army has been actively serving in the Tennessee Valley since tornadoes ripped through Northwest Georgia and Southeast Tennessee on April 13th. To date, over 2700 individuals have been served in both Hamilton and Bradley Counties. Demands are increasing as neighborhoods become more accessible. The Salvation Army anticipates serving over 2500 neighbors today, April 15th in both counties providing hot meals, beverages, snacks and spiritual and emotional care. 

 

“The Salvation Army has been serving in disaster relief efforts since the first of March with the Middle Tennessee Tornadoes,” states Major Mark Smith, Area Commander of The Chattanooga Salvation Army. “We went from Middle Tennessee tornado relief right into COVID-19 relief efforts, that are still ongoing, and now our own tornado relief efforts. With the support of our community, we are continuing this ‘Fight for Good’ and providing hope.”

 

In Cleveland yesterday, The Salvation Army in addition to providing food, beverages, and spiritual and emotional support, was able to secure a generator from Operation Blessing for a neighbor on oxygen who lost power and home was affected by the storms.
