Salvation Army Western Division Expands Its Flood-Relief Efforts
SALVATION ARMY OMAHA DONATION CENTER AT FORMER CANFIELD’S OPEN AGAIN TODAY—ONE OF MANY PARTS OF EXPANDING FLOOD-RELIEF EFFORT
Sunday will see Salvation Army Western Division officers, staff, and volunteers working in a variety of flood-relief support functions in eastern Nebraska and western Iowa.
In Omaha—The donation center at the old Canfield's near 84th & Center continues operations today; it will be open from noon to 7 P.M. There, donations of flood-cleanup and -relief items such as shovels, masks, disinfectant, tarps, gloves, bleach, and sports drinks are all needed. We truly appreciate the community’s generosity in this special effort. Additionally, our volunteers served breakfast to people at the flood-relief shelter at Elkhorn Middle School on Sunday, and will continue to provide meal service there throughout the day.
In Sioux City—Corps officers are preparing to bring flood-cleanup kits door-to-door in affected communities around the Sioux City area where possible—as they continue their flood-relief support endeavors.
In Fremont—The team there is working to help facilitate volunteer recruitment and emergency food service operations within town.
In Norfolk—Officers and staff and volunteers offered support in the nearby communities of Stanton and Pierce on Saturday. They have flood-relief kits available and are awaiting the delivery of additional kits from a Salvation Army unit in Kearney.
