Salvation Army Responding to Tornadoes throughout Taylorville, IL

St. Louis, MO - Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services teams have mobilized and are responding to areas impacted by the severe weather and tornadoes that ripped through the Southern Illinois region on Saturday, December 1st.

“Our Emergency Disaster canteens arrived after the impact and will continue supporting the Taylorville community providing food and supplies,” said Lt. Dan Colonel Jennings, Divisional Commander for The Salvation Army.

A Salvation Army canteen is now in Christian County providing meals, snacks and drinks to first responders, survivors and clean-up crews along with emotional and spiritual care to anyone in need.

  • The Salvation Army is working in partnership with the Southern Baptist Team, The Christian County Highway Department and Team Rubicon to better serve the area.
  • A Salvation Army canteen and team from Springfield and Decatur, IL plus St. Louis, MO arrived after impact to the Taylorville area to begin feeding operations.
  • Two Salvation Army canteens from St. Louis and Quincy will arrive this weekend in the Taylorville area to assist.
