Salvation Army Serving Much-Needed Meals to Mexico Beach Community

Mexico Beach, FL (October 19, 2018) – Richard and Bella recently made their first mortgage payment on their dream beach house in Mexico Beach, Florida after moving from Brunswick, Georgia in August 2018.

Just one month after moving in, Hurricane Michael came through and completely destroyed their new home. Until they can rebuild, Richard and Bella are living in their minivan parked in their driveway.

“The Salvation Army is providing meals and water throughout this neighborhood each day,” says Lieutenant Katie Bernabe, Salvation Army Officer from Maryland deployed to serve the Mexico Beach community. “It’s been great to see them smile.”

“These people are a gift from God,” says Bella. “We have been blessed by their kindness and generosity.” While Richard and Bella, and their neighbors in need, work on rebuilding their homes, The Salvation Army will continue to be there serving meals and providing spiritual care.
