The Salvation Army Delivers Clean-Up Kits As Crews Work to Contain Spring Fire
CO Springs, CO (July 3, 2018) – The Salvation Army Emergency Services team has delivered clean-up kits and general hygiene kits for those affected by the growing Spring Fire. Both kits are being distributed out of various Disaster Assistance Centers. The compact hygiene kit includes items of basic personal use. While the 300 disaster clean-up kits have been pre-staged for distribution to evacuees as they wait to receive clearance to reenter their homes.
The Clean Up Kits are designed to clean and disinfect homes following hurricanes, floods and fires. Supplies include:A 5-gallon bucket with lid, 14” Broom, 14” squeegee, (2) 54" four section metal handles, brush, capped sweep, scrub brush, cellulose sponge, leather palm work gloves, household rubber gloves, medical exam gloves, respirator mask, heavy duty garbage bags and liquid cleaner.
Spring Fire nearly doubled in size last night to 78,900+ acres, making this fire one of the largest in Colorado history. The fire is affecting Costilla County and Huerfano County, about 65/75 miles southwest of Pueblo, CO. The Salvation Army is in a lead coordinating role for Colorado’s Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD) and are monitoring and prepared to respond to any unmet needs of those affected and responding to this disaster.
