Three Essential Items For Families With Babies
(Ft. Myers, FL) – With the generous support of FEMA, The Salvation Army has been able to meet the needs of its smallest clients (0-24 months) with a baby supply box, including diapers, bottles, and baby wash. Over 1,200 boxes have been distributed and many more are being assembled to go out on the four mobile canteens and five service centers located in Ft. Myers, Bonita Springs, Lehigh Acres, LaBelle, and Clewiston. Service Center's are open from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM. Bi-lingual staff will be available at two of the locations.
“Thanks to FEMA, donors, and all the wonderful volunteers, who worked to assemble the baby supply boxes, we were able to meet a critical need for mothers with babies in our community,” said Major Cheryl Gilliam, Area Commander of Ft. Myers. “Today, over 1,300 meals were served out of four canteens in Bonita Springs, Lehigh Acres, and LaBelle. We will also continue to provide financial assistance, food boxes, hygiene kits and cleaning supplies to families in need.”
To date, The Salvation Army in Ft. Myers has prepared and distributed: 101,068 hot meals, drinks and snacks; 139 hygiene kits; 378 cleaning supplies; and assisted 337 people with social service needs.
