Salvation Army Harvey Update Houston, Saturday, Sept. 17

Houston, Texas (September 16, 2017) - Salvation Army workers from across the United States and Canada continue to serve in Houston supporting efforts in the area in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. Twenty-one (21) mobile kitchens and response teams, with an average individual capacity to each serve 1,000 meals per day, continue to provide hot meals, snacks, and hydration to Hurricane Harvey survivors, in addition to clean-up kits and other supplies. As of Sept. 16, in the Greater Houston Area, The Salvation Army has provided:

Meals

  • 181,376 meals
  • 130,593 snacks
  • 149,969 drinks

Emotional & Spiritual Care

  • 9,320 spiritual care contacts

Donations Management and Distribution

  • 6,428 comfort/hygiene kits (per kit)
  • 3,614 infant supplies
  • 713 blankets
  • 1,722 cleanup Kits
  • 2,441 clothing
  • 3,392 food boxes
  • 5,665 cases of water
