The Salvation Army on Stand-by and ready to respond to Lightner Creek Fire
Durango, CO (June 29, 2017) – The Salvation Army Emergency Services (ES) team is closely monitoring the rapidly growing Lightner Creek Fire near Durango, CO. “We are on standby and ready to help with food and water supplies as needed” shared Ian Anderson, Director of Emergency Services for the Intermountain Division of The Salvation Army.
An evacuation order has been issued for 170 homes in the area. Lightner Creek Fire started shortly after 4 p.m. on Wednesday and has destroyed one home. The wildlife has since grown to 250 acres prompting Gov. John Hickenlooper to declare the situation an emergency, early this morning.
If the Salvation Army ES team is called to respond to the Lightner Creek Fire, we will continue to care for those affected by the recent Maplewood Estate Building Collapse in Lakewood, CO. The Salvation Army is supporting the evacuees from this disaster by providing daily meals to the 84 survivors. A mobile feeding unit will remain on-site until the further notice.
