The Salvation Army feeds 3,000 as canteens enter impacted areas
Baton Rouge, LA – With flood waters slowly dropping, The Salvation Army was able to enter some of the greatest impacted areas around Baton Rouge. Salvation Army canteens or mobile feeding trucks served meals, drinks, and snacks to residents who have lost everything from the historic rainfall that hit Southern Louisiana last weekend.
On Tuesday, canteen crews served the following:
Prepared meals: 2,967
Drinks: 2,456
Snacks: 958
Clean up kits: 300
Cases of water: 25
Personnel 28, serving 295 hours
Emotional and
spiritual care provided: 63
These numbers do not take into account the number of volunteers who are accepting donations at our donation site at Cortana Mall. The Salvation Army will accept donations of water, hygiene and cleaning supplies, at 9401 Cortana Place, Baton Rouge.
