Salvation Army Provides Relief to Residents, Responders in NE Oklahoma

April 1, 2016 – Tulsa, OK - The Salvation Army of Arkansas and Oklahoma is in its third day of providing relief to those affected by the late Wednesday afternoon and evening storms and tornado that hit northeast Oklahoma.

Since Wednesday night, the Tulsa Metropolitan Area Command Emergency Disaster Response team has served nearly 300 meals, 530 drinks and over 1,200 snacks to first responders, residents and volunteers working in the damaged areas.

The Command first deployed their canteen and an Emergency Disaster Response team to Rogers County Wednesday night at the request of Emergency Management and provided meals, snacks and hydration until early Thursday morning to those affected by and responding to the tornado that touched down near Claremore, Oklahoma.

Since Thursday morning, the canteen has been deployed to the North Tulsa area at 46th Street North and Frankfort to provide relief the first responders, residents and clean-up crews working in the area hard-hit by the Wednesday night storm.

Saturday, April 2, The Salvation Army will return to the North Tulsa area as part of a community-wide volunteer clean-up effort providing water, snacks, clean-up kits and other items to help in the clean-up. The Salvation Army is working with local community partners and Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD).

Monetary Donations are always needed to offset the costs of services to storm victims.
