The Salvation Army is Active in Flood Relief Efforts Across the Region

St. Louis, Mo., December 29, 2015 – The Salvation Army is active in relief efforts combatting flooding in Granite City, Ill. (3007 E. 23rd), and in Arnold (3740 Telegraph Road), Branson (1114 Stanley Blvd.) and St. Louis City (The Salvation Army) in Missouri.

Gary Busiek, divisional social services director for The Salvation Army, says, “Canteens, mobile kitchens or food trucks, are part of the overall Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) provided by The Salvation Army through our worship and community centers.”   He added, “Providing food and drink for volunteers and first responders is particularly important under current weather conditions and in the performance of high exertion activities like sandbagging,” said Busiek.

In Branson, The Salvation Army is partnering with the Red Cross to provide shelter and relief.  At the Fultz Ballfield (Hampton to Gravois, south side of the River Des Peres) in St. Louis, The Salvation Army is on hand in support of the aggressive sandbagging effort. 

In Kimmswick, Mo., The Salvation Army Arnold is partnering with commercial businesses and fast food restaurants and serving key meals as needed.

Busiek says, “We (The Salvation Army) will continue to monitor flood conditions and work with officials across Missouri and Illinois to ensure we are ready to respond to situations as they arise.”
