The Salvation Army Supports Mississippi Highway Patrol Camp

Pearl, MS (June 21, 2015) – The Salvation Army of the Alabama-Louisiana-Mississippi Division responded to a call from The State of Mississippi for assistance with water in preparation for the Mississippi Highway Patrol Academy camp going on this week.

In cooperation with the McComb, MS Salvation Army Corps, a full pallet of water was delivered to the state training academy in Pearl, MS.  Sgt. Andy Bailey, The Salvation Army administrator in McComb stated, “When we have trouble we are usually calling the police, so it’s good to help them when we can.” 

The State Highway Patrol camp is held each summer to give youth from across the state a taste of life as a state law enforcement officer.  From early morning physical training (PT) to classroom preparation, the attendees spend their time building relationships and learning leadership skills.  The camp goes on all week and The Salvation Army has agreed to help with additional resources if necessary.  Sgt. Bailey added, “The Salvation Army considers the State of Mississippi a close partner and we jump at the chance to help the men and women who keep us safe across the state.”
